The Central Connecticut softball team will travel to Baton Rouge, LA to compete in its first ever NCAA Regional round May 17-19. Northwestern State and UL-Lafayette will also attend the double-elimination tournament, along with regional host LSU, the #9 overall seed.
The Blue Devils will face LSU at 6 p.m. Central time on Friday night in the second game of the Regional.

After winning its first ever Northeast Conference Championship on Saturday, the CCSU softball team eagerly awaited their next stop in their continued road of success on Sunday night. At 10 p.m., the Blue Devils, along with family and friends, watched the ESPNU announcement that they would be traveling to LSU.
The Blue Devils have already amassed a program record 35 wins, breaking the CCSU win record for the third-consecutive season. Sophomore Laura Messina has compiled an impressive 27-9 record this season, making her the winningest pitcher in CCSU history with 49 wins. Messina has also registered 12 shutouts and 239 strikeouts, propelling her into the top spot in CCSU history in both categories with 19 and 446, respectively.
Messina accumulated national rankings throughout the season including her fourth-place ranking in the country in shutouts.
"To get to compete in the NCAA Regional round is such a great landmark in Central Connecticut history," Head Coach Jeff Franquet said. "I'm so proud of our team and how hard they've worked to get here. We will face some really good teams and I'm confident that our players will handle the competition well."
