On Day Two, Central Moves to 13th at C&F
The Central Connecticut women's golf team jumped up three spots to 13th place on the C&F Bank Invitational leaderboard after day two of the tournament. As a team Central shot a second round 320, an 18 stroke improvement from their opening round 338. The Blue Devils held a 16th place tie before Monday's round. The team vaulted past Monmouth, Fairfield, and Sacred Heart who placed ahead of Central after Sunday's round to finish the second round in 13th place (338/320/658). Central leads all six Northeast Conference schools competing in the tournament.
Junior Anna Ausanio recorded a 73 on day two, her lowest round score of the season. Only five golfers shot as good or better than Ausanio's 73 in the event's second round. She went +2 on the day and is now +10 on the tournament. The six stroke improvement elevated Ausanio on the individual leaderboard from a 28th place tie on Sunday to an 9th place tie after today's round. Ausanio registered three birdies and 10 par's on Monday's scorecard. She is now seven strokes (79/73/152) off the tournament's individual leader, Longwood's Kameron Carter (71/74/145).
Freshman Albrianna Farnum broke 80 on day two with an impressive 78, her season low round score. Farnum jumped up 11 spots on the individual leaderboard after her second round performance and is now tied for 46th place. She improved five strokes from Sunday's score and is +19 for the tournament after a +7 showing on Monday (83/78/161).
Junior Stephanie Bednar penciled in an 84 and is now tied for 67th in the individual field (85/84/169). Junior Katie Reid improved six strokes from Sunday's score shooting an 85 on Monday. She is now +34 to par on the tournament (91/85/176). After recording a birdie on the 12th hole, sophomore Gina Grant ended round two with a score of 91 (94/91/185).
The third and final day of the C&F Bank Invitational will take place tomorrow March 20th.
