NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll

CCSU head coach Brenda Webb begins her third year at the helm as the Blue Devils embark on the 2008 season with hopes of contending for their first NEC crown since 1999. Alyssa Cole returns for her junior campaign after putting forth a 21st place effort to lead the Blue Devils at last year's title meet. Also back in the fold is senior Megan Jaswell, who placed 33rd at the NEC meet as a junior.

Three-time defending NEC champion Quinnipiac received nine of eleven first-place votes to take the number one spot in the annual preseason poll of women's cross country head coaches. Last year's runner-up, Monmouth, took second on the list, while Sacred Heart secured third, each picking up a first-place nod of its own. Saint Francis (PA) and Robert Morris filled out the top five, followed by Central Connecticut State in sixth and Wagner in seventh. Mount St. Mary's, Long Island, Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis (NY) rounded out the field.

Central Connecticut starts the season on Saturday, Sept. 6, hosting the Blue Devil Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT.
