The Central Connecticut women's cross country team placed fifth out of 14 teams as hosts of the Sixth Annual CCSU Mini Meet. Senior Megan Jaswell and sophomore Katherine Bossardet finished 13th and 14th, respectively, to lead the Blue Devils. Jaswell recorded a time of 11 minutes and 35 seconds on the two mile course, while Bossardet finished two seconds behind in 11:37.
Central placed three runners in the top 25, with junior Alyssa Cole taking 23rd overall, and finished with a total of 159 points. The Blue Devils were 37 points behind fourth place Brown and four points ahead of sixth place Fairfield. Boston University claimed the team championship, putting three runners in the top five overall. The Terriers beat out second place Providence and third place UCONN to win the Mini Meet.
Other top finishers for the Blue Devils were sophomore Nicole Coiteux in 49th place with a time of 12:14 and freshman Amanda Asaro in 68th with a time of 12:32. BU's Sarah Mosser won the individual championship with a time of 11 minutes and nine seconds. She beat out Wagners Brecken Drager and fellow Terrier Katie Bauler, who finished second and third, respectively.
CCSU will now gear up for the Northeast Conference Meet to be
held on Saturday November 1 in Holmdel, NJ.
