Blue Devils Lose First of Two Today at Mason Invitational, Take on Niagara at 2 p.m.
Central Connecticut (0-3) lost, 10-3, against George Mason (8-6) in the first of its two games today at the Mason Invitational. Junior Jaclyn Logan had a two-run double for the Blue Devils, who will be back on the field at 2 p.m. against Niagara.

Senior Rachel Brenneman struck out the first two Patriots in 1-2-3 top of the first for the Blue Devils, who were designated the home team for the game. The Central Connecticut offense then provided her with a lead in the bottom half of the inning. Sophomore Erin Kelley reached on a error to start the inning, and junior Tiffany Erickson followed with a walk. Logan then drove both in with a two-run double to left center. Logan came in two batters later on a fielding error, giving CCSU a 3-0 lead.
Brenneman pitched out of a jam in the second, inducing a fielder's choice and a groundout with runners on first and second and one out. She started the third inning with a strikeout before loading the bases on consecutive singles. Freshman Morgan Davis then put the Patriots in front, 4-3, with a grand slam over the left field wall.
George Mason added three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh. Senior Alison Bryan had a two-run single, and freshman Alyssa See drove her in to make it 7-3. Freshman Miranda Cranford doubled in two runs in the seventh. She crossed the plate on an infield single for the final Patriot run.
Brenneman struck out six in six innings of work Sophomore Elizabeth Montemurro relieved Brenneman in the seventh with two runs in, a runner on second and no outs. She allowed two hits. Cranford threw a complete game two-hitter with six strikeouts to earn the win. Kelley accounted for Central Connecticut's other hit, a single in the second inning.
Central Connecticut will face Niagara this afternoon at 2 p.m.
