Logan Collects Two Hits in 9-0 Blue Devil Loss Versus Cornell at Mason Invitational
Junior Jaclyn Logan went 2-for-2 to lead Central Connecticut (1-4) in a 9-0 five-inning loss against Cornell (7-0) at the Mason Invitational this morning. Sophomore Erin Kelley added a single for the Blue Devils, who face George Mason at 3:45 p.m.

Cornell scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning. CCSU senior starter Rachel Brenneman hit three batters, the third with two outs, to load the bases. Junior Vanessa Leonard drove in the first two Big Red runs with a single up the middle. Senior Jessy Berkey, who followed Leonard to the plate, hit a three-run home run to make it 5-0.
The Big Red added four runs in the third inning. Junior Ashley Garvey led off the inning with a double, and freshman Erica Gaeta followed with a single to shortstop. The runners moved to second and third on a sac bunt, and Garvey crossed the plate on a Berkey single. Freshman Shannon Crane drove Gaeta in with a pinch-hit single. Berkey scored on a wild pitch, and junior Alyson Intihar drove in the final run with a single.
Central Connecticut did not advance a runner past first base against Cornell sophomore starter Ali Tomlinson. Tomlinson gave up three hits and struck out two in four innings. Freshman Lauren Marx pitched a perfect fifth. Brenneman allowed nine runs, seven earned, on nine hits in three innings. Freshman Abby Harpp retired the Big Red in order in the fourth.
The Blue Devils face host George Mason at 3:45 this afternoon.
