Ford Named NEC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Melina Ford of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday by the league office. Ford helped the Blue Devils pick up a pair of conference wins last week.
Ford backstopped Central to its first win of the season and made five saves in a 1-0 win at Chicago State on Thursday. She followed that up with another five-save performance in a 1-0 win over New Haven on Sunday. On the season, Ford ranks fourth in the NEC in goals against average (1.571) and in save percentage (.771). With the wins last week, CCSU extended its NEC unbeaten streak to six games and is 2-0-2 on the campaign.
