Men's Soccer Drops Season Finale to Quinnipiac 1-0 on Friday Night

The Central Connecticut State University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in its final game of the 2009 season on Friday night. The game was played under the lights at Arute Field, the first night soccer game to be held on that field since it opened nine years ago. With the loss the Blue Devils finish the season with a 6-10-1 overall record and a 1-8-1 in Northeast Conference play.

The game marked the final home game for five seniors. They were honored prior to the match in a special senior night ceremony. Paul Armstrong, Chris Jones, Raphael Guimaraes, Eddie Floyd and Hadji Diop were joined by head coach Shaun Green for a small ceremony prior to the game.

Jones received the start in goal for the Blue Devils, he played the first half and made once save as the two teams were tied at 0-0 at the break.

Armstrong played the second half in goal, also making one save.

The Bobcats scored the games only goal at 81:54 in the second half. After a scramble in front of the goal, Philip Suprise found the loose ball and sent it into the right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The Blue Devils outshot the Bobcats 10-6 on the night. Quinnipiac had a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. Bobcat goalkeeper Frederick Hall posted a pair saves to pick up the shutout as QU moved to 9-3-6 overall and 6-2-2 in NEC action.
