Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision on Sunday at #7 Boston College
The Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team
dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 3-0 road loss at seventh-ranked
Boston College on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils return to
action on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. when they host Holy Cross. The
game will be played on Arute Field, due to the ongoing construction
of a new soccer field on the CCSU campus.
The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead just 2:22 into the contest when
Victoria DiMartino scored unassisted past Blue Devil keep Nikola
Deiter. Deiter, a freshman, was making her second straight
start to open the season for CCSU. She made six saves in the game,
including four in the second half.
DiMartino's second goal of the game made it 2-0 in the 71st minute
of action. The Eagles added a third goal with just over 10 minutes
to play in the game for the 3-0 final score.
Deiter made six saves. Boston College keeper Jill Mastroianni had
five for the Eagles in the victory.
Boston College, ranked seventh in the country in the first weekly
poll announced last Tuesday, is now 2-0-1 on the season.
Central returns to action at home on Tuesday hosting Holy Cross at
5 p.m. The game will be played at Arute Field and admission is
free. Fans can follow the action online with a FREE webstream
beginning at kickoff.
