Women's Soccer Drops 3-2 Decision on the Road at Providence

Senior Beth Lloyd scored twice but the Central Connecticut women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision on the road at Providence on Friday afternoon. Lloyd converted her second penalty kick in as many games but the Blue Devils fall to 2-4 overall on the season with the loss. Central returns to action on Sunday at UConn beginning at 1 p.m.

Lloyd gave the Blue Devils the early lead scoring just 6:59 into the match. She took a feed from Nathalie Nilsson and shot from the top left of the box over the keeper for the score. Nilsson, the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week this week, has a team-best four assists on the season.

The Friars responded with one goal before halftime to tie the game at 1-1 at the break. Alyssa Martino netted her third goal of the season to tie the game at 29:18. Providence then scored the first two goals after halftime to take a 3-1 lead. Jenna Roncarati and Kate Delciampo gave the Friars the lead with 20 minutes to play in the game.
