Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight, 2-0, Over Robert Morris
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team won its third
straight game, topping Robert Morris 2-0 on the road on Friday
afternoon. Seniors Beth
Lloyd and Abby
Graham each scored in the victory. Lloyd's goal was her
league-leading 12th of the season. Central is now 7-7-1 overall
and 3-2-1 in Northeast Conference action.
Graham's first goal of the season came in the third minute of action, and proved to be the game-winner. On a corner kick, she volleyed a shot off the crossbar from the top of the box at 2:39 to give the Blue Devils the 1-0 edge.
Lloyd's goal in the second half gave Central the 2-0 lead, helping them to their third straight victory. It might have been her most impressive goal of her league-leading 12 goals this season. She played a give-and-go with freshman Jewel Robinson and somehow found room inside the near post for the goal.
Just eight days ago the Blue Devils were 0-2-1 in the conference. After three straight victories they stand at 3-2-1. Central held a 14-11 advantage in shots, and a 7-1 edge in shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Nikola Deiter made one save in net to preserve her second straight shutout. She also blanked Monmouth 2-0 last Sunday. She has three shutouts on the season.
Central returns to action at St. Francis (PA) on Sunday.
