Kelley Breaks Own School Record, CCSU Competes at URI

Freshman standout Amanda Kelley broke her own school record in the shot put, while the Central Connecticut women's track and field team competed in the Sorlein Invitational at the University of Rhode Island. Kelley recorded a distance of 39 ft. 1 in. and placed fourth in the event. She also placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 48 ft. 10.75 in.

Sophomores Katherine Bossardet and Nicole Coiteux finished third and fourth in the 3,000 meter run. Bossardet set a personal best, crossing the line in 10:43.33, while Coiteux ran her first 3,000m in 10:45.51. Senior Megan Jaswell also set a personal record of 5:21.72 in the one mile run, placing sixth in the event. Sophomore Samantha St. Amand took home fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:34.66. The Blue Devil 4x800 meter relay team of freshman Amanda Asaro, Jaswell, junior Kim Savino and senior Kathleen Lima placed second out of five, finishing in 9:57.42.

The Blue Devils will next compete in the Terrier Invitational at Boston University on Friday January 23.
