CCSU Competes In Day One of NEC Championships

Freshman Amanda Kelley got the Central Connecticut women's track and field team on the board in day one of the Northeast Conference Championships, recording a third place finish in the weight throw. She recorded a throw of 15.6 meters to grab six points for the Blue Devils. CCSU is currently in eighth place heading into tomorrow's final day action where field events will begin at 12:00 p.m. and the first track event to run at 12:30 p.m.

During Saturday's first day of competition at the NEC Championships two Blue Devils paved their way to the finals on Sunday. Freshman Kate McGuire qualified for the 500 meter final as the seven seed. She timed in at 1:21.21 in her preliminary heat. Senior Kathleen Lima recorded the eighth best time in the 800 meters to qualify for Sunday's final. She crossed the line in a season-best 2:22.66.

CCSU will continue competition on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in Landover, MD.
