Leverette Competes In Day One of ECAC Heptathlon

Freshman Christie Leverette competed in the first day of the heptathlon at the ECAC Championships on Friday. She won the shot put, but is currently in seventh place out of the 11 in competition in Princeton, NJ. The only Central Connecticut student-athlete competing at the championships, Leverette recorded a distance of 11.68 meters to score 640 points in the shot put. She has 2,862 points after day one action and is 418 behind first place heading into Saturday.

Before winning the shot put, Leverette tied for eighth in the 100 meter hurdles and tied for fourth in the high jump. She finished in 15.45 seconds for the 100 meter hurdles and jumped 1.60 meters in the high jump. To finish off the day, the Dallas, GA native was ninth in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in 27.11 seconds.
