Records Fall For Women's Track at Boston Indoor Games

broke the 14 year old weight throw school record as Central Connecticut State University placed 10th out of 17 scoring teams at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on Friday. The sophomore recorded a distance of 52 feet 11.5 inches to place fifth in the event. Kelley broke Nancy Wenzel's mark of 52'4" set in 1996. The Cumberland, RI native also broke her own CCSU record in the shot put, breaking the record for the seventh time in her career. Her distance of 43'10.75" placed her fourth in the event.

Freshman Dara Edge also took down a school record on Friday. She broke the mark she set earlier in the year in both the prelims and finals. Edge ran a 8.74 in round one and then finished in 8.67 seconds to place seventh in the final round. Edge also competed well in the triple jump, as she recorded a distance of 34'1.5" to place 12th.

Sophomore Amy Sanjurjo placed seventh in two events for the Blue Devils. On the track she placed seventh in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.38 seconds. In the field Sanjurjo took seventh in the long jump, recording a distance of 17'6.25". She also finished the 200 meter dash in 26.26 seconds to place 12th.

Central Connecticut finished with 16 points to place 10th in the meet. Northeastern won the meet with 135.25 total points. South Florida and UMass took second and third with scores of 112 and 82, respectively.

The Blue Devils will next compete at the Giegengack Invitational on the campus of Yale University February 5 and 6.
