The Central Connecticut State University women's track and field team competed at the UMass Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Devils placed ninth out of 12 teams with a team score of 54. The host Minutemen won the meet with a score of 167.5, edging out Albany and Boston College who scored 153 and 120, respectively.
Sophomore Amanda Kelley placed fourth in both the shot put and the discus events on Saturday. She recorded distances of 40'5" and 136'3" in the two events, respectively. Kelley also threw the javelin 112'2" to take seventh in the event, while freshman Nablissa Lomotey earned a second place finish with a distance of 133'6".
It was sophomores Amy Sanjurjo and Amanda Prescott handling the jumps on Saturday. Sanjurjo recorded a distance of 16'10" to place seventh in the long jump, while Prescott placed in the top eight in both the triple and high jumps. She put forth marks of 33'3" and 4'9" in the two events, respectively.
Sanjurjo, along with freshmen Rachel Dombroski and Dara Edge, highlighted the sprints for CCSU. Sanjurjo took sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.85 seconds. Dombroski crossed the line in 1:01.42 to place sixth in the 400 meter dash, while Edge was fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.92.
Senior Alyssa Cole and junior Nicole Coiteux handled the distance at UMass, finishing third and fourth in the 10,000 meters, respectively. The former ran a time of 39:41.81, while the latter recorded a time of 40:08.12.
