Sophomore Amy Sanjurjo broke the school record in the long jump for the second time this season as the Central Connecticut State University women's track and field team competed in the first day of competition at the Yale Giegengack Invitational on Friday. Sanjurjo placed third with a mark of 18 feet, 3.75 inches. Her distance on Friday tied her for the best jump this season in the Northeast Conference.
Senior Alyssa Cole competed in the 5,000 meter run for only the second time in her career on Friday. Her time of 18:37.84 was good enough for third place in the meet. Sanjurjo also finished 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.12 seconds. The Blue Devils will continue competition with day two action on Saturday.
