Three Blue Devil Women's Soccer Players Selected to Participate in NEWISA Senior Bowl
All three Central Connecticut women's soccer seniors were selected to participate in the 2008 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl. Hannah Bromley and Jill Kusek were both named to the NCAA Division I team, while goalkeeper Erin Herd was chosen an alternate. This year, the trio helped lead Central Connecticut, which finished the year at 12-7-4, to its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in seven seasons.
Bromley was key in Central Connecticut's defensive success this season. A second team All-NEC selection, she appeared in 21 games, helping anchor a program-record 12 shutouts. The New Zealand native added a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils. Bromley played in 10 games during the 2007 season, her first at CCSU.
Kusek, meanwhile, finished her two-year stint as Blue Devil captain this season. She made 22 starts at the midfield, finishing her career with 67 appearances and 54 starts.
A first team All-NEC honoree, Herd went 8-3-4 in goal during her final season. She posted a 0.72 goals against average with a save percentage of .857. Both were career bests. The Coffs Harbour, Australia product also had eight shutouts on the year. Herd is among the all-time leaders for the Blue Devils with 13 career shutouts in her four seasons.
The NEWISA Senior Bowl will be held on Sunday, Dec. 7 at Salem State College. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
