Howard, Jean Earn NEC Football Honors
Jean also named FCS Honorable Mention for defense
For the second consecutive week the Central Connecticut State football team has received two weekly honors from the NEC. Chris Jean earned his second consecutive NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor, while Elijah Howard was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week.
Jean, who was also named an Stats Perform FCS Defensive Player of the Week honorable mention, had his second multi-interception game of his career. He finished Saturday's game at Merrimack with seven solo tackles the two interceptions and a pass breakup. Jean has seven interceptions in his past five games, dating back to the win over Duquesne last season. He is sixth among active FCS players in career interceptions and is first among sophomores in the nation in the category.
Howard had his second consecutive two touchdown outing on Saturday. He accumulated 106 all-purpose yards at Merrimack and had rushing touchdowns of 21 yards and one-yard in the fourth quarter.
The Blue Devils, 2-2 on the season, are next in action this Saturday, September 27th for the CCSU Homecoming Game. CCSU welcomes Dartmouth to Arute Field for a 12:00 pm game. Tickets are available at the Online CCSU Ticket Office.
