Football Blocks Way To 10-7 Win Over LIU
CCSU blocked two fourth quarter field goals in league victory
Jack Stoll, as time expired, blocked an 18-yard field goal attempt to give the Central Connecticut State football team a 10-7 win over NEC visitor LIU, Saturday afternoon at Arute Field.
The blocked field goal was the second of the quarter for CCSU, as Stylz Mitchell deflected a 40-yar attempt with 11:19 to play in the game.
In the final 60 seconds, with the Blue Devils in front 10-7, LIU ran six plays inside the CCSU 20. Of those plays, the Blue Devils broke up two passes in the end zone and forced an incomplete pass on second-and-goal from the one–yard line, setting up the Stoll heroics.
Gavin Taylor had the hurry on the second-and-goal, his fourth of the game. CCUSU had six QBH Saturday and broke-up five passes. The defense held LIU to 43 yards of total offense in the first half and did not allow a point in the opening 30 minutes of play.
