Two-Time Defending NEC Champion Football Team Unveils Signing Day Class
Fifteen high school seniors signed with the NEC Champion Blue Devils during the December signing period
Third-year head coach Adam Lechtenberg announced the Central Connecticut State football early signee period class on Thursday. The Blue Devils inked 15 high school seniors to the recruiting class of 2026. The group will join the roster of the two-time defending NEC Champions for the Fall 2026 campaign.
"I am very excited about the talent we signed in the December signing period," said Lechtenberg. "Our coaches have done an outstanding job of identifying really good players who have the chance to develop and become great players here at CCSU. Acquiring players with size, speed and athleticism will always be a focal point of our recruiting philosophy and I am excited that we were able to do that. I am thrilled about the potential of this class, and I can't wait for the opportunity to get to work with them. I would like to thank them and their families for choosing to become Blue Devils!"
CCSU has won back-to-back NEC Championships and, for the first-time in program history, have played in the FCS Playoffs in consecutive seasons. CCSU posted an 8-4 record during the 2025 campaign and have 15 wins in the past two seasons. Lechteberg has earned NEC Coach of the Year honors the past two seasons, and the Blue Devils have won the league's top award on both sides of the ball in 2024 and 2025.
