Howard Named NEC Offensive Player Of The Week
Ran for a season-high 178 yards and 2 touchdowns
Central Connecticut State running back Elijah Howard had a season-best day and as a result was named the NEC Offensive Player of the Week. He was also named a Stats Perform National Player of the Week honorable mention.
Howard ran for a season-high 178 yards on Saturday, the third-best single-game total in the NEC this season. That effort included a 93-yard touchdown, the third longest rush play from scrimmage in FCS this season and had 17 total carries, none for negative yardage. Howard had his third two score game of the year, with two rushing scores. He also caught four passes for 39 yards to accumulate 217 all-purpose yards.
Howard was joined as an NEC Prime Performer by Brady Olson and Jack Stoll. Olson was 20-30 through the air for 261 yards and two touchdowns, with no turnovers. Stoll recorded seven tackles, six solo, and had 2.5 TFL for the second consecutive week.
The Blue Devils win over Stonehill secured them at least a share of the NEC Championship for the second consecutive year. CCSU will play at Duquesne on Saturday and then host Mercyhurst on November 22nd. A win in either of those games, or a Duquesne loss to RMU in the season finale will clinch the league's AQ to the FCS Championship.
