Junior Sam Pelletier posted scores of 69 and 77 to lead the Central Connecticut State University men's golf team during the first two rounds of play at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon in Verona, NY. Pelletier is two over par after day one of action on the par 72 Kaluhyat Golf Course. The Blue Devils are currently in a tie for sixth with Binghamton in the 13 team field. CCSU shot a 303 in round one and a 314 in second round action.
The University of Missouri leads after two rounds, shooting 295 in the first round and 302 during the second 18 holes. CCSU's Pelletier trails the leader, Oakland University's Michael Coriasso, by three strokes heading into Monday's final round. Freshman Dan Fanion and junior Eric Hawerchuk are currently in a tie for 28th after shooting 158s for 36 holes. Fanion went 78-80, while Hawerchuck shot 76 to open and finished the day with a round of 82. Kevin Josephson (80-86) and Greg Beloin (92-75) rounded out the field for Central.
Final round play will begin tomorrow morning.
