The Central Connecticut State University men's golf team shot five over par, 285, in the final round of play to place fifth out of 15 teams in competition at the Macdonald Cup at the Course at Yale this weekend. The Blue Devils finished with a score of 860 in the three-round tournament, just 18 strokes back of the host Bulldogs who won the event. Freshman Dan Fanion led CCSU with a one over par, 211 (68-72-71), to place in a tie for sixth in the 75 player tournament.
Sophomores Kevin Josephson and Greg Beloin tied for 17th in the tournament, each carding a five over par 215 in the three rounds. Josephson shot 70, 73, 72, while Beloin played rounds of 74 and 72 before finishing the best round by a Blue Devil on the weekend with a one under par 69 in round three. Junior Eric Hawerchuk finished the three rounds in 219 to place in a tie for 34th.
CCSU will next compete at UConn on October 12 and 13.
