The Central Connecticut women's basketball team used a 35 point second half to defeat the Terriers of St. Francis (NY) 53-33, on Monday night. The Blue Devils improve to 8-6 on the season and 1-3 in Northeast Conference action. Senior Leanne Crockett scored 12 of her team-high 14 points in the second half as the Blue Devils ran away with the game.
The Blue Devils bult a 12-2 lead half way through the first period but the Terriers fought back and pushed the game to 18-15 at the break. A trio of Blue Devils dropped in four points including sophomores Brooke Bailey and Kirsten Daamen and senior Kerrianne Dugan. Junior Gabrielle Oglesby, sophomore Jameilia Dillon and Crockett all had a pair of points in the half.
Crockett and Bailey both pulled down four rebounds in the period. Crockett also had a pair of steals in the period.
Central came out of the half on fire, scoring seven unanswered points in route to an 18 point lead at the 10:00 minute mark. The Blue Devils shot 55.2% after the break, including four of six from Crockett who scored 12 of Central's 35 points in the second period. Crockett also grabbed eight rebounds in the second half, to led the Blue Devils in that category.
Crockett finished with her second double-double of the season. She posted an outstanding stat line of 14 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and two assists.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday at Quinnipiac, tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
