Women's Basketball Drops Fairleigh Dickinson 57-29

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University by a score of 57-29, on Saturday afternoon. The 28 point margin of victory was the largest for the Central women since Nov. 30, 2002, when they defeated Lamar 62-32. The win pushes the Blue Devils to 10-7 on the season and 3-4 in Northeast Conference action. The Blue Devils were led by three players who scored in double-figures.

The Blue Devils took a 21-13 lead into the break behind six points from freshman Jessica Babe. Junior Alexzandria Dowdy dropped in five in the period and senior Kerrianne Dugan went 4-4 at the free throw line to contribute four points. Senior Leanne Crockett grabbed four rebounds, made a steal and had a block to led the Blue Devil Defense.

Central's offense kicked into high gear in the second half scoring 36 points and limiting the Knights to only 16. Senior Justina Udenze poured in 12 of her game-high 14 points after the break. Crockett grabbed five more rebounds and scored eight points, as Babe scored another six points and made three assists.

The Blue Devils led by as many as 30 points in the second half as the Blue Devils went on a 34-14 run to close the game. Central succeded at keeping the Knights off of the free throw line, allowing the visitors to shoot only two free throws the entire game. As a team the Blue Devils recored eight blocks including two from Crockett and three from Udenze.

Udenze had a game-high 14 points, Babe finished with 12 and Crockett was the third Blue Devil in double-figures with 10.

Crockett had a game-high nine rebounds and Dugan grabbed six boards to lead Central's 41 rebound attack.

The Blue Devils return to action on Monday, as they look to even the season series with Monmouth, tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
