Men's Basketball Sprints by Johnson & Wales on Sunday
The Central Connecticut State men's basketball team cruised by Johnson & Wales (RI), 122-57, on Sunday afternoon at Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils had six players score in double-figures and shot a season-best 70.4 percent from the field in the game.
Darin Smith, Jr. scored a game-high 24 points, while Gabe Spinelli added 16 points. Roddy Jones and Ashton Reynolds added 13 points apiece, while Jay Rodgers added 11 points and Max Frazier had 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Blue Devils shot 50-of-71 (.704) overall and 9-of-34 (.265) from three-point range. CCSU was 9-of-11 (.818) from the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU missed its first five field goals until a putback by Max Frazier made it 3-2 at the 17:08 mark. Frazier would score the Blue Devils' first eight points and put them ahead 8-5 at the first media timeout despite CCSU shooting just 3-of-10 to open the game. Central would use a 9-0 run over three minutes to push the lead to 11-5.
- Central would outscore JWU, 21-3 over a six-minute span. A three-point play by Ashton Reynolds followed by five straight by Darin Smith, Jr. would make it 37-16 with 6:29 to go in the half as CCSU would have a stretch of making 11-of-15 field goals.
- The Blue Devils would outscore the Wildcats 30-4 over a seven-minute span to go ahead 94-46 with 7:36 remaining. The margin would not get any closer the rest of the way and the Wildcats ended a nearly four-minute scoring drought with a jumper with 0:22 to play for the final margin.

- The last time Central scored 100+ points in back to back games was Dec. 5 and 7, 1990 (vs. Fairfield, 109-112; at Colorado, 108-124).
- The last time Central scored 100+ points in back-to-back wins at home was Dec. 22 and Dec. 28, 1984 (vs. Stonehill, 112-95; vs. Husson, 104-76). CCSU was D-II at the time.
