Men's Basketball Welcomes Raphel Laurent for 2026-27
Central Connecticut State University head men's basketball coach Patrick Sellers has announced Raphel Laurent has transferred to the program for the 2026-27 season. Laurent joins Matt Goodwin, Victor Payne and Jhace Johnson for the upcoming season who committed to Central earlier in the spring.
Laurent is a 6-foot-3 guard who is a native of Peabody, MA, and has spent the previous two seasons at UMass Boston. He is coming off a 2025-26 season, during which he earned All-Little East Conference First Team honors and was named to the All-LEC Defensive Team. He averaged a team-high 22.4 points, along with 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while contributing a combined 2.5 steals and blocks per contest, while shooting 51.1 percent overall and 38.7 percent from the three-point arc. He was also named to the NABC Division III All-District 2 Second Team as a sophomore. The 2024-25 LEC Rookie of the Year, Laurent played in 53 career games, including 38 starts, and averaged 18.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 51.5 percent from the field in 32.8 minutes per game. He collected 96 steals and 26 blocked shots , while being named LEC Player of the Week three times and Rookie of the Week five times.
"It is exciting for us to add Raphel to the Central Connecticut program," said Sellers "Raphel is a physical athlete and with his athleticism he has the ability to be an excellent two-way player for our program. It will be great to have him get to work with the Blue Devils."
