Men's Basketball Wins Convincingly at Binghamton
The Central Connecticut State men's basketball team won, 84-67, at Binghamton on Saturday in Vestal, NY. The Blue Devils shot 60 percent from the field and had four players in double-figures to win comfortably against the Bearcats.
Darin Smith, Jr. had 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Jay Rodgers had 14 points and 10 assists to lead the way. James Jones and Gabe Spinelli each added 11 points.. CCSU shot 33-of-55 (.600) overall and 10-of-21 (.476) from three-point range. CCSU was 8-of-11 (.727) from the foul line.
Zyier Beverly led Binghamton with 21 points to pace a trio in double-figures.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU would score the first four points and went up 4-0 following a three-pointer by Elijah Parker. The Blue Devils would extend their lead to 14-7 after seven unanswered points capped with a three-point play by Darin Smith, Jr.
- Binghamton would go on an 11-0 run over a three-minute stretch to take its first lead and go ahead 18-14 at the 11:44 mark. A Jay Rodgers pullup would end the Central drought and the teams would be even at 19-19 midway through the opening half.
- The teams would trade hoops on three straight possessions. Smith would start the game making his first three three-pointers and his trey at the 8:22 mark would put CCSU in front 26-23. A driving layup by Gabe Spinelli would extend the Central advantage to 30-23 before the Bearcats spun off eight unanswered points to go briefly go ahead. A three-pointer by Roddy Jones restored the Blue Devils lead and sparked an 8-1 run as the lead would expand to 43-35 following a Rodgers trifecta. CCSU would take a 46-39 lead into intermission.
- Binghamton would make a run at the Blue Devils on a pair of occasions in the second half, but Central would respond each time. After having its lead trimmed to 54-50, CCSU would respond with 11 unanswered points over nearly five minutes to build its largest lead of the game at 65-50.
- Central would not allow its lead to go below 11 points over the final nine-plus minutes, while pushing its lead to as many as 20 before winning by 84-67.

NOTES
- Smith, Jr. collected his sixth 20-point game of the season and scored 17 of his points in the opening half. He finished the game shooting 9-of-17 from the floor.
- Rodgers finished with a career-high in assists, while adding five rebounds. He topped five assists in a game for the ninth time this season.
- Jones finished in double-figures for the second time this season and shot 5-of-7. He added five rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and a steal.
- Roddy Jones and Max Frazier each added nine points.
- Central made 10 three-pointers in the game, but also outscored Binghamton, 42-34, in the paint.
- CCSU leads the all-time series, 6-2, and has won the past two meetings..
