Smith, Jr. Named Influxer/NEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Darin Smith, Jr. of the Central Connecticut men's basketball team earned Influxer/NEC Player of the Week honors it was announced on Monday. Smith helped CCSU to two wins last week and was named Player of the Week for the sixth time this season.
Smith averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game last week, while shooting .520 from the field and .500 on three-pointers. He made 18-of-19 foul shots (.947) last week. He opened the week with 24 points vs. Mercyhurst to top 20 points for the 16th time this season. He went 12-of-13 at the foul line in the win. Smith posted his 17th 20-point game with 22 vs. Saint Francis to close the regular season. He moved to 592 points this season, which is the fifth-highest single-season total in program history.
Max Frazier was named a Prime Performer after posting 13.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. He shot 13-of-17 (.765) last week, including shooting 8-for-9 from the field vs. Mercyhurst. He was just one rebound from matching a personal high in collecting his fourth double-double of the season.
