Smith Named NEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Darin Smith, Jr. of the Central Connecticut men's basketball team was named NEC Player of the Week it was announced on Monday. The honor is the third of the season for Smith.
Smith was outstanding last week, posting 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 14-of-35 (.400) overall and 17-and-19 (.895) at foul line. He had his second double double of year with 24 points, 12 rebounds at Le Moyne. On Thursday, he posted 22 points in win over Stonehill and has topped the 20-point plateau in 10 games this season.
Joining Smith as a Prime Performer was Jay Rodgers. Rodgers posted 16.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists last week. He had a season-high 21 points vs. Stonehill.
The Blue Devils play a pair of road games this week, beginning with a road tilt at Saint Francis on Saturday in a rematch of last season's NEC title game.
