Figueiredo Named NEC Track Athlete Of The Week
Won 400m and posted top NEC time, 11th fastest in region
Central Connecticut State sophomore Lucas Figueiredo was named the NEC Track Athlete of the Week for his showing at the Wagner Invitational on Saturday. He was joined as a prime performer by Greyson Golda and Salvatore Masciarelli.
Figueiredo won the 400m at the Wagner Invitational, topping a field of 62 competitors, running 48.94. That time is the fastest in the NEC this season and ranks 11th in the Northeast Region. Figueiredo ran 22.21in the 200m Saturday as well, which is the fifth fastest time in the NEC this season and placed seventh.
Golda won the shot put with a school record throw of 17.24m and was second in the weight throw with an 18.53m effort, that is a personal-best by two meters.
Masciarelli paced four Blue Devils in the top-eight of the mile by claiming second place, with a run of 4:14.25.
