Figueiredo Named NEC Track Athlete Of The Week
Joined by Golda on the Prime Performer list
Central Connecticut State sophomore Lucas Figueiredo was named the NEC Track Athlete of the Week, after his showing at the UConn Dog Fight on Saturday. Figueiredo was joined as an NEC Prime Performer by Greyson Golda.
Figueiredo won the 400m dash with a 46.87 time, which is just 0.12 seconds behind his previous season-best, which was a school record. His gold medal-winning mark is second on the conference performance list and is tied for 79th in the country. Figueiredo added a 22.18 200m dash to place 16th at the meet and ranks ninth in the league.
Golda won the shot put at the UConn Dog Fight with a 17.08m effort that is second in the NEC and 110th in the NCAA. He threw a PR 57.68m in finishing second in the hammer throw and was 11th in the discus (46.41m).
The Blue Devils will be in action this weekend at the Conn College Silfen Invitational on Friday and the UMass Commonwealth Invitational on Saturday.
