Seven Top-Three Finishes Lead Men's Track at UMASS
The Central Connecticut State men's track and field team was in action at the UMASS Commonwealth Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Devils posted seven medalist finishes on the day, including wins by Alexander Figueiredo, Tristan Smith and the 4x400m relay

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
- Lucas Figuieredo ran 47.77 in the 400m, good for second place, while Jayden Brown (49.47) and KyMoy Phillip (49.73) ran to ninth and 10th place finish
- Aiden Budge claimed the 1500m bronze medal, running 3:57.60, while Ryan Dunning crossed in 16th place with a time of 4:04.86
- Joseph Lauria ran to a fourth-place showing in the 3000m steeplechase, setting a new personal-best at 9:27.80, with Matthew Kraszewski in sixth place with a collegiate-best time of 9:35.88 and Caleb Cerra was 10th at 10:22.76
- Dylan Bathrick claimed fifth place in the 800m, finishing in a time of 1:55.41, while Chris Abbey (1:57.70) and Tyler Safstrom (1:58.37) were 16th and 17th respectively
- Kenny Agwu was the eighth finisher in the 400m hurdles, setting a personal-best of 55.99, while Julieen Lopez ran 57.58m to earn 12th and Maxwell Czarnecki crossed 17th in 58.34
- Figueiredo ran 22.24 in the 200m, good for eighth place, with Brown running a collegiate-best of 22.37 for 14th with Octavius Richard 18th in 22.47 and Phillip 19th at 22.49
- Budge and Connor Garrett finished exactly two seconds apart in 7th and 8th place in the 5000m running 15:13.66 and 15:15.66, while Billy Liebler ran 15:38.83 to finish 17th. Garrett set a new personal-best with his time.
- Julieen Lopez crossed the line 14th in the 110m hurdles in a time of 15.64
- Richard set a new personal-best and tied for 18th in the 100m, running 10.99
- The men's 4x400m relay 'A' team of (Figueiredo, Brown, Phillip and Czarnecki won in a time of 3:15.97. The relay of Lopez, Cory Bates II, Jarell Gibbs, and Gabriel Kwarteng placed fifth in 3:26.08. The relay of Chris Abbey, Dylan Bathrick, Ryan Dunning and Jack Ciambra clocked a time of 3:31.85.
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
- Alexander Figueiredo won the high jump, clearing 1.97m, while Thomas Hooks cleared 1.87m to finish ninth
- Tristan Smith took the top spot in shot put, as his second-round throw of 17.04m held up for the victory. It was his first of two personal-bests on the day.
- Greyson Golda threw 16.51m on his final attempt to move into the bronze medal spot in shot put
- Golda claimed silver in the discus, this time with his top throw of 50.10m coming on his fifth attempt and set a personal-best.
- Figueiredo also medaled in the long jump, finishing third with a 6.90m jump on his fourth attempt, setting a new personal-best.
- Zane Baton placed eighth in the discus, with a third-round effort of 44.57m to set a personal-mark, with Smith 17th after a 43.78m second round effort set a new personal-record.
- Zach Bonini finished ninth in the javelin, throwing 47.09m, while Kyle Martin claimed 14th place with a throw of 44.71
- Golda was the top finisher for the squad in the hammer throw, throwing 52.19m to earn 10th place, with Brayden Johnson 13th at 50.94m and Baton 16th at 40.46m
