Golda Tabbed NEC Field Athlete Of The Week
Set school record in the discus
Central Connecticut State sophomore Greyson Golda is the NEC Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. He was joined as an NEC Prime Performer by Lucas Figueiredo and Joseph Lauria.
Golda had a record setting week, throwing the discus 53.54m to set a CCSU record. The throw, which won the event at the UConn Northeast Challenge, is the first throw over 50m in the NEC this season. He also won the shot put with a throw of 16.80m and was fifth in the hammer throw at 56.77m.
Figueiredo claimed bronze in the 400m dash at the UConn Northeast Challenge, running 47.37, which would rank second behind his own league-leading 46.75. He also ran a leg on the 4x400 relay that posted the conference's best time in the event this spring, 3:11.75.
Lauria captured silver in the 3000m steeplechase, running 9:16.49, a personal-best at the UConn Northeast Challenge. It is the top time in the NEC this spring.
The Blue Devils host the Blue Devil Challenge on Friday, before hosting the NEC Championship, May 2-3rd.
