Women's Basketball Topped by UMass Lowell on Saturday
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team came up short against UMass Lowell falling, 70-54, on Saturday at Detrick Gymnasium. CCSU would make it a three-point game early in the fourth quarter, but the River Hawks' defense would not allow a point for over five minutes and held on for the win.
Kiyah Lewis poured in a career-high 24 points to go with seven rebounds and six steals, while Lucia Noin added 19 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central Connecticut would lead, 11-10, after the opening quarter by taking advantage of UMass Lowell miscues. The Blue Devils had a 6-2 margin in turnovers and turned that into a 5-0 edge in points off turnovers. Jah'Nae Stevens hit a jumper with 31 seconds left in the period that put CCSU ahead by one.
- Kiyah Lewis opened the second period with a jumper that put CCSU ahead by three before the River Hawks ran off six unanswered points. Jaini Edmonds hit the second of consecutive treys that made it 16-13 midway through the quarter. Lucia Noin tied it for the Blue Devils on the next possession with a three-pointer of her own.
- A layup by Kiyah Lewis got CCSU within, 22-20, with 2:06 to play in the half. That would be the Blue Devils' final field goal of the period as the River Hawks scored seven points in the final 1:30, including a pair of layups by Tiyanna Medina to make it 29-20 at halftime.
- Coming out of halftime, UML would extend the lead to double-digits on the first possession. CCSU would be limited to four free throws by Noin in the opening 4:55 of the half before a three-pointer by Na-Kyah Williams would make it 40-28.
- The Blue Devils would fall behind as much as 44-28 with 3:39 left in the third quarter. A three-pointer by Williams was followed by five quick points by Lewis to cut the deficit in half in just 1:51. The River Hawks would hit a three-pointer to momentarily push the lead back to nine, but CCSU outscored UML 5-2 in the final 31 second of the period and a trey by Williams just before the buzzer made it 49-43.
- A three-point play by Lewis opened the fourth period and pulled CCSU within, 49-46. The Blue Devils held UML without a field goal for over four minutes to open the quarter, but could not get closer than three points as the River Hawks went 6-of-7 at the foul line and held CCSU scoreless for over five minutes following Lewis' three-point play. A three-pointer by Medina with 4:58 left pushed the UML lead back to double-figures and the Blue Devils got no closer than eight the rest of the way.

46 – The teams combined for 46 turnovers, 23 apiece, and UMass Lowell held a narrow 21-19 edge in points off turnovers.
NOTES
- Lewis scored a career-high for the second straight game. She also collected three blocked shots.
- Noin was 2-of-5 on three-pointers. She had two assists and two steals.
- Lewis and Noin were each 5-of-6 at the foul line and were the only Blue Devils to shoot a foul shot.
- Williams was 3-of-6 on three-pointers and had nine points off the bench.
- Stevens grabbed six rebounds off the bench.
- The River Hawks lead the all-time series 4-3 and the teams have alternated wins in the last three meetings.
