Women's Basketball Held Off by Wagner on Saturday
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team was held off by Wagner, 50-41, in NEC action on Saturday at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils were within three points in the second half, but a 9-0 run by the Seahawks proved to be the difference.
Jessica Farrell and Nicora Patrick scored 13 and 11 points, respectively to lead Central.

KEY MOMENTS
- After Wagner built a 9-2 lead midway through the opening quarter, CCSU would respond with five straight points. Lucia Noin opened the spurt with a jump shot, followed by a Nicora Patrick foul shot and a Mathilda Toure layup to make it 9-7 with 1:32 in the period. The Blue Devils would trail just 11-8 after the opening quarter.
- Central would go on a 5-0 run to open the second quarter and take its first lead of the game. Jessica Farrell made a jumper and a layup to begin the period and put CCSU ahead, 12-11 at the 7:35 mark.
- Wagner would regain the lead on a three-pointer by Klea Kaci, but a pair of foul shots by Farrell would later knot the game at 16-16 with 2:32 left in the half. The Seahawks would close the half on an 8-0 run to go into halftime with a 24-16 lead.
- CCSU would fall behind by double-digits and went almost five minutes without scoring to open the second half. A Nicora Patrick layup would spark a 7-0 run that made it a one-possession game. Kiyah Lewis hit a three-pointer at the 3:58 mark to get Central within 26-23. Wagner would push the lead back to seven before a Farrell trifecta made it 32-28 just before the period ended.
- The Blue Devils were within 38-35 with 6:50 to play after a layup by Cierra Pearson. Wagner would respond by scoring nine straight points including back-to-back baskets as the shot clock expired to make it 47-35 with 2:59 to play. Lucia Noin would hit a three-pointer with 47 seconds left to make it a single-digit margin and settle the final score.
