Lewis Posts Career-High 36 points, 11 Rebounds At Saint Francis

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team dropped its final road game of the regular season on Saturday, falling 82-63 to NEC host Saint Francis University. 

Kiyah Lewis had a career-day as she tallied her first collegiate double-double. Both her 36 points and 11 rebounds are single-game personal bests for the rookie.

KEY MOMENTS  

• After trading baskets to open the game, Lewis scored five points on back-to-back possessions to put the Blue Devils in front 7-2. The Red Flash responded with an 8-2 run of their own and taking a 10-9 lead. Cierra Pearson's free throw midway in the quarter squared the game for a fourth time, 10-10, and kicked off an 8-0 over 4:09 of action that saw seven straight Lewis points and was capped with a pair of free throws with 65 seconds to play in the period and a 17-10 Central lead.  

• The Red Flash scored the final four points of the first quarter to draw within 17-14. 

• The Blue Devils never trailed in the second quarter and expanded their lead to as many as 10 points, 28-18 over the first half of the quarter. CCSU shot 4-7 from the field during that 11-4 run. 

• SFU started to chip away at the lead with a Sajol Thornhill triple at the 3:39 mark and closed within two points, 31-29 when Aleah James hit a three with 51 seconds to play in the half. Nicora Patrick ended the half with a put back layup with seven seconds to play to send CCSU to the locker room leading 33-29. 

• The Red Flash stormed out of the locker room in the third, scoring the first 10 points of the third quarter and quickly took a 39-33 lead. Lucia Noin sank a free throw at the 7:29 mark that stemmed the tide and put the Blue Devils onto a 10-2 run over the nest 2:45 to retake the lead, 43-41, on a Lewis basket with 4:44 remaining in the period. SFU finished the period with a 16-6 run, hitting 6-9 from the field over the final 4:14 of the half to build a 57-49 advantage 

• The fourth quarter started with the Red Flash hot from the field again, going 7-11 from the field without a turnover in the first half of the quarter, opening a 74-53 lead. The Blue Devils committed four turnovers and were 1-6 from the field during that stretch.

• Lewis' 36 points is most by a Blue Devil in a game since Belle Lanpher tallied 37 at Wagner on January 11, 2025, and is the second 30-point effort of the season for the Blue Devils 

• CCSU was 22-25 at the free throw line, led by a 13-15 effort from Lewis and a 4-4 rom Noin and Nicora Patrick 

• Patrick reached double figures for the second time in three games, scoring 10 points and pulling down a career-high seven rebounds 

• The Blue Devils had a rebounding edge in the contest, 41-33, and a 14-11 edge in offensive rebounds 

• Noin had six points and three assists 

• Lewis added two steals and two blocked shots in the game, and shot 11-25 from the field 

• Pearson finished with six assists and five steals, a career-high assist total 

• The game featured five lead chances and seven ties 

• Four Red Flash scored 11 or more points, led by James' 21 points
