Back-to-Back Homeruns in the 1st Not Enough for Baseball at Coppin State

The Central Connecticut State baseball team dropped Sunday's NEC series-finale at Coppin State, 9-2, in Hanover, MD. The Blue Devils scored two runs in the first inning, but the Eagles surged into the lead with a five-run seventh inning.
Nick Fox had a pair of extra-base hits, including a homerun, to lead the CCSU lineup, while Frankie Ferrentino hit a first inning homerun as well..

KEY MOMENTS
- Fox hit a two-out solo homerun to make it 1-0 in the first inning and was followed by Frankie Ferrentino hitting a solo shot to make it a two-run game.
- Coppin State got a leadoff homerun from Terrell Milliner in the third inning to cut the CCSU lead in half.
- Zach Worzel would retire the first two batters in the bottom of the fifth inning, before a single and hit batter put runners on base. Back-to-back hits, a single and double, would drive in two runs to put CSU ahead, 3-2.
- Coppin State drew a pair of one-out walks in the seventh inning. Angel Garcia doubled in a run, before an intentional walk loaded the bags. A wild pitch allowed a run to score before Nelson Grajales singled to plate two more runs. Marcu Sanders would single in another run to make it 8-2.
- The Eagles added a run in the eighth inning on a homerun by Armando Hurtado.

- Fox was 2-for-4 with a double and home run.
- Ferrentino hit his team-leading 4th homerun.
- Zack Worzel started and struck out four over 4.2 innings, allowing three runs.
- CCSU hit back-to-back homeruns for the first time since March 1, 2024, when Mike Torniero & Elliot Good hit homers in the fourth inning at William & Mary
- The Blue Devils combined for seven hits as a team, four of them singles.
- CCSU is 10-6 in the series all-time.
