Baseball Trio Earn All-NEC Recognition
The Central Connecticut baseball team had a trio of three honorees earn All-Northeast Conference recognition it was announced by the league office on Wednesday on the eve of the conference championship. Kyle Salvati was named to the All-NEC First Team, while Louis Jordan and Nick Fox were named to the All-NEC Second Team.
Salvati shined in his only season with the Blue Devils, going 2-2 with a 4.33 ERA in 70.2 innings across 12 appearances with 72 strikeouts. In all games, Salvati ranked second in the league in ERA and opposing batting average (.233) while ranking among the top-10 in innings pitched and strikeouts. In NEC play he ranked among the league leaders in strikeouts (3rd, 68), innings pitched (4th, 66.2) and opposing batting average (t-7th, .237). The 6-foot-6 righthander was named NEC Pitcher of the Week on May 11 after he threw a complete game at Mercyhurst and scattered five hits in a 5-1 win, while ringing up a career-high 11 strikeouts. His outing was the first complete game for a Blue Devil since April 12, 2024 and the most strikeouts since April 5, 2025. Over his last two starts of the season, covering 17.0 innings, he was charged with two earned runs on just 10 hits while collecting 19 strikeouts against four walks.
Jordan earned All-NEC recognition at third base after playing in 43 games, slashing .287/.400/.537 and leading the team with eight home runs, 12 doubles and 40 runs batted in. The 6-foot-3 slugger, collected multiple hits in 13 games on the season. He hit a homerun in three straight games from March 21-24 and hit two homeruns at UAlbany on April 14. Jordan closed the season, going 2-for-4 with a homeer, double and three RBIs against Le Moyne. In NEC play, Jordan hit .305 with five homeruns and slugging .542 and posting a .405 on-base percentage. He ranked fifth league play with 12 doubles.
Fox appeared in 31 games and slashed .373/.447/.559 to earn honors as the second team designated hitter. Fox hit in 19 straight games from March 27-April 26, while bashing his first career homerun on April 12 at Coppin State in that stretch. He capped the season by going 3-for-4 with a double and triple against Le Moyne. Fox was named NEC Rookie of the Week in consecutive weeks on April 14 and 21 and batted a team-best .372 in NEC play. He would score 15 runs and drive in 19 more in league play, while posting a .437 on-base percentage.
