Baseball Drops Sunday Finale at FDU
The Central Connecticut State baseball team was swept by FDU in a three-game NEC series on Sunday in in Teaneck, NJ, falling 10-2. The first-place Knights took the lead in the third inning and did not relinquish it.
Gianno Merlonghi, Nick Fox and Brandon O'Neill each had extra-base hits for Central.

KEY MOMENTS
- FDU opened the scoring with a run in the third inning on a sac fly to make it 1-0 before tacking on three runs in the fourth. Jeremy Cheeseman led off with a solo homerun before FDU drove in runs on a sacrifice fly and groundout to make it 4-0.
- O'Neill led off the CCSU fifth inning with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch. He would score on a fly out by Rob Natale to make it 4-1.
- The Knights loaded the bases with one out in the fifth inning before an error allowed a run to come home and make it 5-1.
- In the seventh inning, Ryan Scialabba hit a two-out single and came home on a double by Fox to make it 5-2,
- FDU broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the inning. Travis Stroh and Luke Russo each hit two-run singles and Johnathan Gomez doubled in another as the Knights would bat around in the frame.
NOTES
- Fox was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the game.
- O'Neill was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Merlonghi had a triple in four at bats.
- CCSU is 66-33 against FDU all-time.
