Baseball Drops Series Opener to New Haven
The Central Connecticut State baseball team lost in the bottomteam fell to New Haven, 6-2, in the opener of a three-game NEC series on Friday in New Britain,, CT. The Blue Devils took an early lead with two runs in the second inning, but the Chargers would score five unanswered runs to win..
Louis Jordan, Nick Fox and Gianno Merlonghi each had two hits for the Blue Devils.

KEY MOMENTS
- New Haven loaded the bases with no outs in the first inning, but only managed one run on a Joseph Frazzetta sacrifice fly.
- Merlonghi led off the second with a single and Gabe Pitts was hit by a pitch. A groundout moved them into scoring position before a miscue on a groundball allowed them both to score with two outs and make it 2-1.
- The Chargers scored a run in the fourth to tie the game on a Nick Ungania groundout. Frazzetta singled in a run in the fifth inning to make it 3-2.
- In the sixth inning, Shaun Callahan doubled in a run and Casey Cerrutto hit a sacrifice fly to plate another to push the lead to three runs. Aedan Forde singled in a run in the seventh to make it 6-2.
- Max Hilsenroth allowed just one Blue Devil to reach third base after the second inning. He would throw a complete game and struck out 10.
NOTES
- Fox has hit in 17 straight games.
