- CCSU had a 4-2 edge in shots in the opening half and came out on the attack in the second half. Anthony Catanzaro had three shots in the opening minutes of the second period, one of which was put out for a corner kick just 9:14 into play. On the ensuing set piece, Trevor Rau lofted a kick that found Jaran Klevberg at the far post for his first career goal.
- New Haven would tie the score in the 60th minute when Joao Pires flipped a ball in front of net where Lukian Lawro was able to head it in to make it 1-1.
- With just over 12 minutes to play, the Chargers went ahead when Pires and Filipe Lemos combined on passes before Pires laid the ball off for Andrew Buchanan who put home his shot for the eventual game-winner.
