Men's Soccer Downed at Rhode Island on Wednesday
The Central Connecticut men's soccer fell at Rhode Island, 4-0, on Wednesday in the non-conference finale. The Rams scored three second half goals to pull away in the contest.

KEY MOMENTS
- In an evenly-played opening half, Rhode Island took advantage of a set piece just before halftime to go ahead. With just over three minutes to play in the period the Rams earned a corner kick and the Maksim Kalin and Tiago Barriguinha combined to knock the ball to Everson Goglia at the far post, where he tucked it into the net for the opening goal.
- URI doubled the lead just out of halftime when Goglia picked the ball up near midfield and passed to Theo Harris, who put his shot inside the right post to make it 2-0.
- CCSU had a stretch just 10 minutes in the half, putting three shots on goal. URI's Caleb McNeil would make three stops to keep Central off the board.
- URI added a goal in the 71st minute, earning a penalty kick. Brio Levitt made a stop on the initial shot, but Austin Rocke got the rebound and pushed it in to make it 3-0.
- The Rams rounded out the scoring with under a minute to play when Mathias Taylor and Collin Martin combined before getting the ball to Sinan Brunin, who put a low shot in the middle of goal to close the game.

NOTES
- Youssef Shafei had a team-high four shots, while Nana Nnuro-Frimpong and Gavin Bravado each had two shots on goal.
- Cristian Torres started and played the opening 45 minutes before giving way to Leavitt. Leavitt made five stops in the second half.
- URI is 2-1-3 against CCSU all-time.
