Men's Indoor Track & Field Tabbed As Team To Beat
Blue Devils opened indoor campaign this past weekend with two record setting performances.
Just days after opening the 2024-25 indoor track and field team with a pair of record setting efforts, the Central Connecticut State men's track and field team has been tabbed as the squad to beat in the Northeast Conference preseason coaches poll.
The Blue Devils received five of the eight first-place votes in the poll, to sit atop the poll. Defending indoor champion Wagner recieved the other three first-place votes and are picked as the runner-up. Stonehill placed third in the rankings with Saint Francis U coming in at number four. LIU was slotted fifth, one spot in front of FDU. Rounding out the preseason selections were NEC newcomer Chicago State in seventh and Le Moyne in eighth.
CCSU opened the indoor campaign at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, where Noah Colangelo and Yankarlos Diaz both set school records (read more).
The Blue Devils captured the 2024 outdoor NEC Championship in thrilling fashing, rallying from a large day two deficit to end the four-year reign of the Seahawks. At the 2024 indoor championship, the Blue Devils came up just eight points shy of capturing the crown. The Blue Devils have won back-to-back NEC Championships in cross country.
Central will return to action in the new year, competing at the Wagner Invitational on January 3rd at Ocean Breeze Park in Staten Island. That is the site of the 2025 NEC Championships, which will be held February 16-17th.
