Winkler Throws Wednesday Night At NCAA Track & Field Championships
Javelin is scheduled for 8:15 pm eastern
Central Connecticut State javelin thrower Colin Winkler will make Blue Devil history on Wednesday night, when he becomes the first student-athlete in program history to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Winkler earned his spot in the 24-man final in the javelin, which is scheduled for 8:15 pm on Wednesday at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR.
The 2025 NCAA Track & Field Championships will air on the ESPN family of network, beginning at 7:00 pm Wednesday. The men's javelin event can be found on ESPN+ at this link (watch here) and scheduled to begin at 8:15 pm.
Winkler earned his berth in the national championship field by placing ninth at the NCAA East Regional two weeks ago. On his third and final throw, Winkler threw 68.18m to move up from 17th place entering the final round.
Winkler won gold in the javelin at the NE Championship, as he had the top-six throws of the event. He set an NEC record in his final effort, 71.98m, which also eclipsed Winkler's own school record, set earlier this season.
The NCAA Championship will have two flights of a dozen competitors who will take three throws each. The top-nine advance to the finals, which consists of three additional throws.
