Winkler Earns Second-Team All-America; Places Ninth In NCAA Javelin
Winkler broke his own school record by nearly three meters on Wednesday night.
Central Connecticut State javelin student-athlete Colin Winkler finished ninth in the javelin at the 2025 NCAA Track and Field Championship. The effort, at Hayward Field in Euguene, OR, earns Winkler Second-Team All-America honors.
Winkler earned his spot in the final with a school-record 74.97m effort on his final throw of the first flight. That throw moved him into third place and earned him the ninth and final spot in the final round of throws.
Winkler is the first Blue Devil to earn All-America at the NCAA Track and Field championships; indoor or outdoor.
The All-America honor marks the sixth consecutive championship that an NEC athlete has earned that status. Winkler is the 33rd NEC student-athlete to earn All-America in men's outdoor track and field.
The finish is the best for a CCSU track and field athlete at the NCAA indoor or outdoor championship. Aaron Radden placed 10th in the 200m at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Devoux Deysel, Miami, won the event with his opening round throw of 81.75. Leikel Cabrera Gay of Florida was second and Callan Saldutto from Missouri captured bronze.
