Diaz Win Highlights Second Day At UConn Northeast Challenge

The Central Connecticut men's track and field team concluded its two-days of competition at the UCONN Northeast Challenge on Saturday in Storrs, CT. The Blue Devils had three medal winning performances on Saturday.
CCSU returns to action on Friday, April 25th when it hosts the CCSU Blue Devil Spring Invitational. Senior Day begins at 9:15 am and the meet will begin at 10:00 am.
- Yankarlos Diaz took gold in the 300m steeplechase, running 9:09.65, while Joe Lauria took silver, at 9:50.12
- Aiden Budge took silver in the 800m, running 1:52.40
- Salvatore Masciarelli ran to a fourth-place finish in the 1500m, stopping the clock at 3:56.37
- Keith Townsend and Kyle Wimbish both cleared 1.95m in the high jump, finishing fourth and fifth
- Nicholas Xavier (54.59m) and Greyson Golda (54.57m) placed fifth and sixth in the hammer throw
- Chris Abbey (1:53.77) and Ryan McCauley (1:54.63) ran to fifth and seventh place finishes
- Golda finished seventh in the shot put, with a top throw of 15.52m, .05 meters further than teammate Tristan Smith, who finished eighth
- Maxwell Czarnecki (56.24) and Kenny Agwu (56.39) both posted season-best times in the 400m hurdles, and placed sixth and seventh
- Noah Colangelo equaled a personal-best in the 200m, running 21.49
- Andrew Hedges (15:54.16) and Nicholas Fusco (16:44.00) crossed the finish line in sixth and eighth respectively in the 5000m
- Willie Elliott placed seventh in the triple jump, with a top jump of 13.71m
- Kenny Agwu placed 10th for CCSU in the 110m hurdles, clocking a season-best time of 15.74
- Colangelo, KyMoy Phillip, Lucas Figueiredo and Jayden Brown combined to finish third in the 4x400 relay, with a season-best time of 3:14.25
