Men's Track & Field Wins Four Events Saturday
The Blue Devils won the 200, 400, 800 and 1500m races at the Wilton Wright Invitational
The Central Connecticut State men's track and field team scored a meet-best 171.5 points at the Wilton Wright Invitational at Southern Connecticut State University.
The Blue Devils won four events on Saturday, highlighted by a 1-2-3 sweep of the 1500m. The squad won the 200m, 400m, and 800m as well.
CCSU is back in action at the UConn Invitational, April 18-19th in Storrs, CT.
- Chris Abbey led a sweep of the top-three spots in the 1500m with a winning time of 4:06.23
- Ryan Scappaticci was second in the 1500 at 4:11.21 and Thomas Flanders IV was third in 4:12.21
- Lucas Figueiredo led four runners in the top-10 of the 400m, with a winning time of 48.70
- Aiden Budge won the 800m, running 1:55.42, in front of runner-up Abbey (1:59.65) and Scappaticci who finished fourth with a 2:02.65 PR
- Tristan Burke took the top spot in the 200m with a run of 22.53
- Willie Elliott jumped 13.13m to finish second in the triple jump, while Alexander Figueiredo was seventh with a jump of 12.60m
- Greyson Golda took silver in the hammer throw, with a 53.20m effort, with Nicholas Xavier (53.15m) third and Quincy Davis (48.23m) sixth
- Golda was third in the shot put as well, wat 15.40m, with Tristan Smith fifth with a 13.92m throw
- The high jumpers were paced by a personal-best from Rashann Rankins who cleared 1.90m to place second, while Kyle Wimbish and Thomas Hooks both cleared 1.85m, a PR for Hooks, to finish third and fourth
- Andrew Hedges personal-best of 32:44.75 in the 10,000m was good for silver
- Alex Herron captured bronze in the javelin, with a throw of 48.39m and Zachary Bonini was sixth with a throw of 45.91mNoah Colangelo captured silver in the 400 with a time of 50.02, with Jayden Brown (51.50) seventh and Cole Robertson (51.73), 10th
- Caleb Cerra (15:40.55) and Logan Crowley (15:48.38) both ran personal-bests in the 5000m, placing third and fourth in the event
- Golda (41.82m) and Smith (38.92m) were fifth and eighth in the discus
- Kenny Agwu ran a season-best 15.94 in the 110m hurdles, to place sixth
- Jamar Alcena (11.29) and Jordan Jackson (11.44) took fifth and 10th place respectively in the 100m dash
- John Slavinsky placed eighth in the pole vault, clearing 2.95m
- Alexander Figueiredo was ninth in the long jump, with a 6.39m jump
