Softball Picked Second In NEC Preseason Poll
Central earned two first place votes
The NEC unveiled its 2026 preseason softball coaches, two weeks in advance of the season opener for the Central Connecticut State program. The Blue Devils received two first place votes and are tabbed to finish second.
The defending champion, LIU, was tabbed first after receiving five first place votes. The Blue Devils were next, followed by FDU, who also earned two votes for the top spot. Wagner was voted fourth, followed by Le Moyne, Saint Francis, Stonehill, Mercyhurst and New Haven.
The Blue Devils open the 2026 campaign at a tournament hosted by Norfolk State, February 13-15th. CCSU will play Rider three times and the host twice that weekend. The home opener is scheduled for Sunday, February 22nd, with a doubleheader versus Saint Peter's. The NEC schedule starts March 14th, with a three-game homestand versus FDU.
